#94

Well it did not take long for the 94th species of cockroach to make its appearance on the Kuranda property. This species is fairly large (males 28 mm) and very flat. It is known from the Atherton Tablelands as the name suggests but we have found it from several other localities along the coast and in wet habitats inland.  Males are distinguished by having an acute projection in the middle of the supra-anal plate. Other species in the genus recorded from my property in Kuranda include the following: M. convexa, M. mjoebergi, M. parva and M. sp., possibly undescribed.
Blattidae; Blattinae; Methana athertonensis Mackerras
